I am a freelance Finance Director, specialising in growing and developing SMEs through my company Evolve FD. I originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant and worked for a practice in Liverpool dealing with a general mix of clients together with all of their creative clients. I then took a career change and worked as a technician in most of the Liverpool theatres, before becoming co-owner of a Theatre in Education company (having responsibility for all financial, administrative and technical areas). We focused on ‘theatre in education’ productions in secondary schools covering the North of England, the Midlands and Wales. Subsequent to this I became Finance Director of a toy and game importer and distributor; sourcing product in the USA, China and Israel and selling nationally in the UK. I then bought out a portion of this business and set up a company selling a niche board game to the London tourist market.

The focus for me is not just talking about how a business can grow more effectively, but getting my hands dirty and concentrating on the delivery and execution aspects.
